The solver essentially performs a pattern recognition against a catalog of millions of stars. Ekos begins by capturing an image of a starfield, feeding that image to the solver, and getting the central coordinates (RA, DEC) of the image. This is possible thanks to the StellarSolver library. Plate solving will likely fail cause the coordinates from the mount are not matching where it is expecting (I don't think the Polar Alignment routine will fall back to blind platesolving like the Capture and Solve does). If the mount does not have the tracking enabled (alignment) it will do flakey things. Tracking is not enabled on the mounts until they are aligned (I am guessing the same goes for the AVX as for my Advanced GT but I could be wrong).Дisconnect and reconnect the mount in the INDI control panel. Platform: Intel NUC as above, with USB portable monitor (thunderbolt port). We have terrible weather in SE Pennsylvania, and I am trying minimize time spent on troubleshooting on rare clear nights. Four USB ports, five if you count the Thunderbolt port. I am using an Intel NUC running Ubuntu 20.04. However, as of today, it is very difficult to obtain a Raspberry Pi or ASIair. I've been having USB problems on the laptop, and since I use Linux at home and work, I decided to try kstars/Ekos.
